What are the characteristics of die castings?

2023-04-08

1. Casting speed: The casting speed of aluminum die castings is directly proportional to the liquid cavity of the ingot. If the casting speed increases, the liquid cavity and temperature gradient of the ingot will increase, resulting in a large shrinkage stress at the bottom of the liquid cavity and increasing the probability of thermal cracks in the ingot, so the speed must be controlled.

2. Casting temperature: A good casting temperature of aluminum die castings will keep the liquid metal in good fluidity, thereby reducing tissue stress and preventing cracks. The general casting temperature should be determined according to the material type and ingot specification. If the temperature is not suitable, it will increase the internal stress and cause the casting to crack or crack. If the temperature is too low, it is not good, because it will cause defects such as cold shut, slag inclusion, or even cracks on the surface of the ingot, and the casting cannot continue in severe cases.

3. Liquid level height: The position of the liquid level of die castings is also very important. If it is too low, it will increase the thermal cracking tendency of the material and seriously affect the casting process. If the liquid level is too high, the degree of segregation of the ingot will increase. Therefore, there should be a suitable liquid level height.

Die-casting aluminum alloy castings have advantages that other castings cannot compare with in the application process. The product quality is very light and the appearance is very beautiful. The application of aluminum alloy castings is deeply loved by users, especially since the lightweight of automobiles, the casting industry has been widely used in automobile production.
